OWS…What do they want ? 

Round 1:
Critics of the OWS protests are baffled.  The dumb questions they are asking is proof positive that they have no clue what is going on. A phrase bikers coined a few years back explains today’s situation.  “If I have to explain, you wouldn’t understand”  Amen to that.  If you are so out of touch, so brainwashed or so stupid that you don’t know what the protests are about you have my sympathy.  I might add that you are going to hate the next part.

Round 2:
The bell for the second round rang when police began arresting protestors.  Charges range from disorderly conduct to arson and several other crimes designed to limit protesters rights are being dusted off and enforced.  The law enforcement action tells us that the protestors are starting to threaten business as usual.  Philadelphia protests have so far been orderly, peaceful and less than massive.  Even under these cupcake conditions the city claims the protests cost $15,000 a day in Police overtime. That bill will grow if the protests continue to grow.

Round 3:
The third round will be a test for the protestors.  Can they take the heat ?  Back in the day there were protests your parents and grandparents can tell you about.  They can tell you about snarling dogs, tear gas, formations of Police in riot gear, fire hoses and mass arrests.  It does not matter how peaceful and orderly the protests are, the more they disrupt daily life the more force will be used to control and end them. Nothing scares the powers that be the way people in the street can.

New weapons for modern times. The WWW, twitter, tweet, face book, blog, text, instant message, video, digital cameras, live feeds and cell phones allow for all manner of civil disobedience and social mischief.  Even Rupert Murdoch and his gang won’t be able deal with a few million pissed off people with smart phones.  Will the protesters take full advantage of these new weapons ?  And I wonder how the Tea Party crowd will react if  they ever discover they are being screwed just like everyone else.

Final Round:
How will this end?  Are the protesters tough enough and determined enough to really change anything. or are they just pissed off?  Time will tell.

Herman Cain’s 999 plan.

Folks long for simple and easy solutions to complicated problems.  Herman’s 999 plan is simple but it is also stupid and won’t work.  But it does have the support of simple minded Republicans that can’t do arithmetic, and of course the support of well to do voters with  superior math skills looking for a tax cut they could only dream about before Herman came on the scene.

That didn’t take long.  Only a few days since my post for “ready made art” a few of my Catholic friends are objecting to images of the Pope being disrespectful, unfair and etc.  First off the post and the images in question have nothing to do with religion.  What you believe or don’t believe is up to you .  Second…unlike the Bishops, Cardinals and Priests who have been issuing  meaningless apologies  for the abuse that has been covered up for generations there will be no apology from The Nally Boys.

The Catholic Church has provided a perfect model for the establishment and maintenance of a “Good Old Boy” network.  Frankly I don’t care if it is in Mississippi, New York, Boston, Philadelphia or Rome,  protecting the guilty  to maintain power  is wrong and all the prayers and promises don’t make it right.  Below are links to a few of the news stories reporting on the issue,

Ready made art

Ready made art for Christmas

                                  Small prints ready for clear coat.

 The past few weeks have been playing with  my new printer and camera. What fun  new hardware is….and,  by the first of October we will have a shop full of  new Nally Boys stuff .  We call it the new stuff “ready made art”.  Art you can afford,  delivered ready to hang on the wall or display.  You don’t have to  buy a frame….just put a nail in the wall and you are done.

The images are printed using Epson  Claria inks on premium presentation paper., glued to a wood block and protected with  two coats of clear acrylic.  These little beauties will last a long time. Larger prints  will be mounted on wood panels with a clear acrylic protective coat.

God…….please shut up !

Sorry, I don’t mean to be rude but this talking to God thing is getting out of hand.  It started off with all the TV preachers claiming they had gods ear telling us to send them money.  Who can forget Jim and Tammy and their amusement park for the Lord…..that didn’t turn out so good.

And the classic Jimmy boo hoo “my bad’ and blah sob blah.   Lately with Facebook and Twitter etal the God talk is almost nonstop ….. With all the conversations with Sarah, and Bachman and of course Rick Perry (exposed here on the Nally Boys) it’s a wonder God has time to rule over the universe and fight the evil doers.

There is even a dating service advertising on TV that God wants you to pay them to find your perfect Christian mate.
It’s only a matter of time until the Lawyers get in on the act and tell us to sue for Jesus and get our share of the money God wants us to have.

Folks snap out of it …… these people are not talking to god, it’s all made up.  They are just trying to get your money, with the economy as weak as it is these days the “God Talkers” are working overtime to get the few bucks you have left.

So…..when you go to church this week and say your prayers, tell God what these creepy scammers are doing and ask God to take their voices away.  There is no shortage of serious good works that need to be done and these folks are getting in the way of all us well intentioned citizens.

                                              One of the last of the lazy hazy days of Summer in Mohnton.

With Summer winding down I was thinking about my years in Alaska.  Summer there does not exist, a few warm days and it’s over.  In Florida it never ends, and here in the hills of Eastern Pennsylvania it comes and goes.  This morning it was 56 degrees, a sure sign that the hazy lazy days are on the way out.

With the season in mind I’m taking a few days off to celebrate my birthday and prepare my studio for a long productive winter.  A little furniture to move around and a trip to the flea market to get a table for my kitchen and I’ll be ready.


Free Graphics Program
My Photo Shop program is sleeping in my dead computer in the closet and I have missed it …. A lot.  But being a cheapskate I was not about to cash out to replace it and have been trying to get by with a variety of free programs.
Happy to say I have found a good replacement, and it was a free download.  It is called Paint.NET.  I spent three days playing with it and so far it can do everything I need.  So….if you need a good graphics program and don’t want to spend any money you should give it a try.  You could save a few hundred bucks.  The download is on the Cnet site.

The News:
TV talking heads are stressing about the Mustard Gas said to be stockpiled in Libya.  They are concerned it could fall into the “wrong hands”.  Mustard Gas……are you kidding me?  There are  “right hands” for this stuff??  How did people get so stupid?  We had such a good start, fire, the wheel, growing food and lots of cool stuff.  But over time we have got to the point where there are actual “right hands” for stuff like Mustard Gas and atomic bombs. 

Earthquake !
Yikes!  We have just had a small earthquake here…..a minor wiggle but it gets your attention.  The cats did not notice, it takes more than a tremor to wake these guys.


I’ll post pictures of the newly rearranged studio in a couple days.

Fireweed

Regards the “fireweed”.  It is a tall flowering plant common in Alaska toward the end of summer.  It blooms for weeks, from bottom to top on a long single stalk.  As the blooms reach the top you start to notice the snow line on the mountains moving down.  The locals call the snow “termination dust”.  Tis the season, the fireweed is near the top and termination dust is on the mountain. I have a line of 10 foot plants in front of my studio that bloom like the fire weed.  Not sure what they are called but they reminded me of the last days of summer in Alaska.

“It wasn’t me “ …….. God says.

Since posting details of Gov. Rick Perry’s  phone conversation with God some of the Gov.’s supporters have complained that The Nally Boys’ reporters have violated his privacy rights.  The claim is that conversations with God are confidential and blah blah. 

Well pardon me, l but I think every word God ever spoke has been reported and written down somewhere, and in every language on earth.  So sorry Gov., if you are going to talk to God, and talk about talking to God, folks are going to talk about you talking to God.  Cripes, you are as dumb as George.

Anyway I got to thinking about the whole thing and decided to check it out.  Since Gov Perry is what I would call an unreliable witness I decided I would have to talk to God myself.

I don’t know how Gov. Perry does it but when I want to talk to God I put on a big hat, a large sombrero I bought in Juarez years ago. I call it “the talking hat“.  If you don’t believe me ask Monsignor Timmy  in Daytona Beach…..he knows about my hat, has seen me wear it, and knows how it works.   And in fact, the Monsignor also has a special hat of his own.
 I won’t tell you everything God and I talked about but I did ask about the Gov Perry situation. When I asked if he told Rick to be President God said he didn’t doubt that Gov Perry was hearing voices in his head  but said “It wasn’t me talking.”

I for one am relieved, I would hate to have to vote for Rick Perry, and I would really hate to have to disobey God.  


Note:  God did say that the last conversation he had with any American public official was with Harry S. Truman.  If you don’t know who that is check Google there is lots about Truman online.

I am pleased to introduce our artist friend  Peter Moha Meszaros   of Budapest Hungary.  Moha is a full time artist, making photographs, videos and drawings in a style that is both unique and exotic.  His characters are not from my neighborhood but somehow remind me of  the people I see every day.
